Thea Lu is a Chinese picture book maker, illustrator, and designer. She graduated with a MA in Design Strategy from Tsinghua University, China, and got a MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art in the UK.

Growing up in a small city by the sea, she spent most of her childhood playing in the salty water. She carries this playful spirit into her artistic universe, and she is very passionate about experimenting with new artistic possibilities. 

Thea’s work is lyrical, metaphorical, subtly humorous, and rich with details and textures. Her favorite genres are concept books, non-fiction books, and interactive books. When she is not working on books she loves hiking, diving, or anything else in nature.
