Sonia was born in Catalonia, Spain in 1974. She has a Degree in Fine Arts (illustration and graphic design specialization) in the University of Salamanca. Since 1998 works as a freelance illustrator. Sonia develops an artistic work based on a poetic and surreal narrative related to her inner life, womanhood, and feminism. She also explores the expressiveness of some abstract elements such as transparency and blur. Her “Donas d’aigua” (Water Women) series, has awarded numerous international distinctions. Her work has been awarded one gold award in the Global Illustration Award 2018 (Frankfurt Book Fair), she obtained two gold medals in Le Salon des Beaux Arts 2017 (granted by the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts in France). Sonia has also been awarded the Second Place Prize in the East West Art Award Competition 2017 (London), and one Bronze A'Design Award 2017, Milan). She has been shortlisted at the World Illustration Awards 2016 and 2018 (London); she has been chosen Merit Winner in the 3x3 International Illustration Show nº 14 (New York); and she has been chosen Selected Winner in the Illustrators 60 Annual Competition (NY), in the Illustration West 56 Competition (Los Angeles) and in the 6th edition of Latin American Illustration (NY), granted by AI-AP. Sonia lives and works in Lleida, Spain.
